Emiliano Martinez, it turns badly

The scenario that Emiliano Martinez probably envisaged at the end of last season is not at all the one that the porter of Aston Villa is currently living. Three months ago, the Argentinian made his great farewell to the Villa Park public, convinced that he was to leave the club this summer. It is still nothing and his position is now more than barely for him.

Because Aston Villa anticipated the departure of the former Arsenal goalkeeper by recruiting Marco Bizot. Coming from Brest, the latter was also a starting Saturday against Newcastle (0-0). And his performance was noticed since he allowed his family, long in inferiority in the face of the Magpies, not to collect a goal. As for Emiliano Martinez, he was in the stands.

The situation is complicated for the 2022 world champion with Albiceleste. Several tracks, however, seemed to open up to him in recent weeks. Manchester United, FC Barcelona and more recently Galatasaray have been cited. But each time, the scenario was unfavorable to him.

Emiliano Martinez and Aston Villa still linked

The Red Devils counted on a departure from André Onana which did not take place. Barça finally opted for the Joan Garcia option to succeed a Marc-André Ter Stegen dismissed. And Galatasaray seems more interested in the potential arrival of Ederson if Gianluigi Donnarumma came to land in Manchester City.

But the problem is not only for Emiliano Martinez. In August 2024, Aston Villa chose to extend it until June 2029, all on conditions that today cool potential candidates. The value of the thirty-two-year-old player is currently estimated at twenty million euros. The transfer window ends on September 1 at 7 p.m. for the Premier League. Time is running out for “Dibu”.
