Pablo Longoria took the time to post a message on LinkedIn this week. Not to talk about the documentary on Olympique de Marseille which is so much talked about, or to announce the ambitions of his club in Ligue 1, one week before the resumption of the championship against Stade Rennais. It was to salute the arrival of the Ligue 1+ channel that the president of Olympique de Marseille spoke in a long message.
We can understand that Spanish believes in the project and validates the prices offered by the new Ligue 1. Dispute Platform. After the harsh criticisms on Dazn, the launch of Ligue 1+, with its subscription to 9.99 euros for 3 months, then at 14.99 on the rest of the season seems to be consensus.
“To believe in French football is to subscribe”
“The success of Ligue 1+ will not only be played on the technical or commercial field. It will depend on our collective capacity to act in unit, offer an accessible, innovative and coherent product, keep the supporter at the center. The independence of football is the ability to decide for sport and through sport, with the general compass of the competition, clubs and supporters as the general compass.
In other countries, this independence is an intangible principle. It protects the game, guarantees that strategic choices are directly used for sports and economic development, and preserves the credibility of institutions. In France, we must have the same requirement. Football should not become a vehicle at the service of external objectives which distance it from its primary mission. When we deviate from this essence, we weaken confidence, we dilute the identity of our sport and compromise our ability to project ourselves in duration.
(…) A solid and independent framework is a guarantee of trust for clubs, supporters, partners and investors, and the condition for building competitive and respected French football. To believe in French football is to subscribe to Ligue 1.
It is not symbolic: it is investing together in our competitive future and the stability of the whole ecosystem. (…) At OM, as in many clubs, we are convinced to bring this project to success and share it fully with our supporters »»
Ligue 1+ will broadcast the first OM game on Friday on the lawn of Stade Rennais on behalf of the inaugural day of the 2025-2026 season.
