Former AC Milan player and Italian selection, Franco Barei has undergone surgery aimed at withdrawing a pulmonary nodule, the Lombard club announced. The former Rossoneri captain, now vice-president of Milan, had discovered this problem during a routine medical examination. He is currently observing a rest period and will soon start a suitable recovery treatment.
“Dear supporters, I want to inform you that I will take a little time to find all my strength. Thank you to AC Milan and to you all for your support. I kiss you very hard and send you all my affection ”said Barei in a statement. Aged 65, he was considered a real legend in San Siro, where he evolved throughout his very long career, from 1977 to 1997, winning six titles of Italian champion and three European Champions Clubs (1989, 1990, 1994). With the Nazionale, he won the 1982 World Cup without playing and was captain during the 1994 edition, concluded by a loss to penalties against Brazil in the final.
