Club World Cup, OM is ahead of Monaco

A former PSG player forbidden to sign at OM!

In the running in the Champions League this season, OM and AS Monaco are also fighting at a distance to accompany PSG at the next Club World Cup. Parisians already qualified after their coronation on May 31.

It was also an anomaly to report: no other French club was able to accompany PSG to the Club World Cup, transformed by FIFA in 2025 into a competition with 32 teams. This season, Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco have the opportunity to earn points in the Champions League classification over the period 2024-2028. The OGC Nice, 4th in Ligue 1 last May, will participate in the league phase only if the Aiglons eliminate Benfica in the 3rd qualifying round before winning their dam. Lille, who reached the round of 16 last season, only competes in the Europa League.

It is the Monegasques who already have a good opportunity to garner points in the perspective of the lucrative 2029 club World Cup. The rock club was eliminated in dams last February (by Benfica) and therefore collected points over the period 2024-2028 unlike OM. The Phocaeans leave from a distance and must – at least – participate in the LDC in 2026 and 2027 in order to be among the participants of the next Club World Cup with their Parisian rivals.
