Mike Maignan recently benefited from a great promotion within AC Milan. The French goalkeeper, who is about to start his fifth season with the Rossoneri, was appointed captain, according to information from La Gazzetta dello Sport. He succeeds Davide Calabria, who left on loan to the Bologna FC.

The native of Cayenne becomes the first foreign player to take on this role since the Swedish milieu Nils Liedholm in 1956. This choice comes from coach Massimiliano Allegri, who thus testifies to total confidence in the former Parisian, despite an uncertain future.

A future to be defined for Maignan

As a reminder, the Maignan contract runs until June 2026. An extension of the 30 -year -old player is therefore still in the plans of Lombard leaders, despite the many starting rumors that have circulated around the Habs in recent months.
