Negotiations come up against the structure of payments and bonuses claimed by Sporting. The Portuguese club wishes to several payments conditioned to objectives which it deems achievable: 2.5 million euros after 20 matches played, then additional 2.5 million for the next 20, and an identical sum in the event of arsenal qualification for the Champions League. London leaders consider these conditions that are too advantageous and would prefer to create some of these bonuses.
The dispute also extends to the FIFA solidarity mechanism. Contrary to the usual use, Sporting now requires a fair sharing of this charge with Arsenal, a demand that further complicates discussions.
