The departure of Castello Lukeba from Olympique Lyonnais is imminent. The defender is going to join the Bundesliga.

The soap opera around the future of Castello Lukeba seems increasingly close to its outcome. John Textor resisted for long weeks to try to keep the player in his squad, despite several offers from RB Leipzig. Faced with the insistence of his central defender, who asked to join the German club during this summer transfer window, the American owner of Olympique Lyonnais ended up giving in.

The formalization is now imminent. To believe Foot Mercato, the French international Espoirs has just signed his contract with RB Leipzig after successfully passing the second part of his medical examination this Friday morning. Thus, Lukeba joins RB Leipzig on a contract that runs until June 2028. The fixed transfer fee is 35 million euros.

OL hold their successor

According to the English press, OL are turning to another club in John Textor’s Eagle Football group to compensate for this departure. Indeed, according to the latest information from the DailyMail, Olympique Lyonnais would have set its sights on the young central defender of Crystal Palace Jake O’Brien. The young 22-year-old Irish central, who was loaned last season to Molenbeek (an Eagle club), should have his medical examination this Friday in Lyon before signing a 4-year contract.
