New frustration for Olympique Lyonnais. While the Rhone club had made Danilo (24), a Nottingham Forest midfielder, a priority of the summer transfer window, the track suddenly closed. Ironically, the player is now getting closer to another Eagle Football galaxy club. John Textor, former president of the holding company, would have activated his networks to orient the transfer to Botafogo.
According to information from journalist Jorge Nicola, confirmed by FogaonetBotafogo started discussions with Nottingham Forest for Danilo, via the direct intervention of Textor. A strategic maneuver, at the very moment when OL, slowed down by the restrictions imposed by the DNCG, is found without room for maneuver.
A value of € 25 million
The profile of Danilo, trained in Palmeiras, nevertheless perfectly corresponded to the Lyon needs: versatile environment, solid defensively, capable of projecting itself and experienced despite its young age. An agreement was close, around 20 million pounds sterling (around € 23.5 million), but the DNCG vetoed. For his part, Forest, who does not consider Danilo as essential, now claims € 25 million.
While Lyon is stopped, Botafogo is advancing. The Carioca club, owned by Eagle Football, wants to strengthen itself quickly in the middle and sees Danilo an absolute priority. Textor, now focused on the development of Botafogo, would target two to three major recruits this summer, and the ex-player of Palmeiras is at the top of the list.
This new episode once again illustrates the limits of the multi-club model. Although John Textor recently gave the reins to Michele Kang, the imprint of his choices remains clearly visible. And once again, the former boss seems to promote Botafogo.
