Diego Simeone, the coach of Atlético de Madrid, refused to leave for Saudi Arabia this summer, probably giving up several million euros.

The Argentine coach is the highest paid in the world with 20 million euros per season, but he could have undoubtedly earned even more money in the Middle East. In a recent interview, brand asked if the offer made him doubt his continuity at Atlético de Madrid.

“No, the truth is that I am very happy where I am. I am very happy to be at Atlético. I understand that Arabia is developing, that it needs to feed itself with great players”.

He was also asked if he understands players leaving for Arabia, but Simeone didn’t accept the argument that players leave for anything other than money.

” Yes Yes Yes. It’s work, beyond passion and emotion, it’s work. If someone thinks they’re taking this step to have a new experience, that’s fine.”

And he wouldn’t consider going there himself, no matter how big the bid.

“No, even if they increase (their offer).

It’s worth remembering that Simeone is coming off his toughest season as Atlético de Madrid manager, after a disastrous Champions League campaign. During the past campaign, many wondered if the end ofEl Cholo at Atleti was not happening.
