RB Leipzig is one of the fittest clubs in this summer transfer window 2023. Both in terms of sales but especially arrivals. The German club has managed to secure the services of several players and is about to formalize a new recruit coming straight from the French championship.
The nugget of Olympique Lyonnais Castello Lukeba will engage in the next few hours with RB Leipzig. According to RMC Sport, the young defender arrived in Germany on Thursday to undergo his medical examination and subsequently sign his 5-year contract with the Bundesliga team.
The player’s transfer fee is estimated at €35m plus bonuses for Olympique Lyonnais. Note that the Rhone club would own a percentage of 20% in the event of the player’s resale thereafter.
Within the RBL squad, Castello Lukeba will face strong competition in central defence. He could also fight with two French players, namely the former Parisian El Chadaille Bitshiabu but especially Mohamed Simakan.
He should, however, get plenty of playing time at a club that places its trust in young players. What is certain is that RB Leipzig have strengthened themselves perfectly this summer and this in all areas of play. In attacking, the Germans have recorded the loans of Xavi Simons and Fabio Carvalho until June 2024.
But the big blow remains the transfer of Lois Openda from Racing Club Lens for the sum of 43 million euros plus 6 million bonuses.
