It turns out that Lookman is represented by the same company as the German goalkeeper. However, relations between this agency and the management of Barça have become freezing due to the treatment reserved for Ter Stegen. Clearly, the agency uses the Lookman file as a means of pressure: as long as the situation of their goalkeeper is not satisfactorily settled, they will not facilitate any negotiations for another of their players.
The root of evil is deep. Barça clearly told the German goalkeeper that he was no longer the first choice, with the arrival of Joan Garcia and the extension of Wojciech Szczesny. Pushed towards the exit after eleven years of good and loyal service, Ter Stegen feels betrayed. He does not intend to let himself be done and decided to be hung on his positions, strongly supported by his representatives, who now have the cards in hand to harm the summer ambitions of the club.

The guardian's response was scathing: if Barça wants him to leave, it will be necessary to pay him all of his salary until the end of his contract, in 2028. An impossible requirement to meet for a club with always fragile finances. The club is therefore stuck: he cannot pay to make him leave, and the player is ready to stay, even as the third goalkeeper, to go to the end of his contract. This status quo creates enormous tension and freezes any collaboration with its agency.
Barça is therefore trapped by his own strategy. By wanting to force the hand to one of its legends, the management has put an influential agency back, which now blocks the arrival of an offensive reinforcement that the team is sorely needed. The FC Barcelona summer transfer window can only really start when the conflict with Ter Stegen is resolved. And for the moment, neither of the two parties seems ready to give in.
