It’s a sad scene that took place on Thursday during a Real Madrid training session. Victim of a cruciate ligament rupture, Thibaut Courtois collapsed in tears on the lawn. A physical pain at the same time as mental for the Belgian international goalkeeper who probably immediately understood the seriousness and the consequences to come from such an injury. And since he should be operated and absent for many months, the goalkeeper will have to be replaced. However, Real’s options are not numerous.
The first would be to offer promotion to Andriy Lunin, current number two in the hierarchy of merengue porters. But the performances of the Ukrainian during the pre-season would not have really convinced Carlo Ancelotti and his staff. Worse, it would have even been indicated to the player that he could find another club if he wished, according to the Spanish press. In the B team, Fran Gonzalez and Diego Piñeiro still seem a little too young and tender for such responsibility.
