French football finally seems to see a thinning. Less than six weeks before the resumption of Ligue 1, the Professional Football League (LFP) lifted the veil, this Monday, on a key element of its project of its channel 100% Ligue 1: editorial production. Two companies were still in the running, 21 production and Mediawan, and it was finally Mediawan Sport, the branch dedicated to the group's sport, which was retained to ensure the production of content.
The contract awarded to Mediawan Sport covers four major lots: the management of editorial staff, the production of live matches, multiplex and analysis magazines. The group will take orders on August 15, date of the official launch of the platform and the start of the championship. Mediawan will therefore be responsible for designing the dressing, the editorial line, the comments and the animation of the programs.
Led by Pierre-Antoine Capton, Mediawan obtained this market after a process of which Vincent Labrune, president of the LFP and close to Capton, voluntarily dismissed “In order not to be suspected of favoritism”revealed The team. The final decision was made by Nicolas de Tavernost and his teams.
Eight matches out of new ones exclusively
The future 100 % Ligue 1 channel will offer eight live matches and exclusively per day, the ninth remaining the property of BeIN Sports. Announced at less than 15 euros per month, this offer is intended to be accessible to seduce a large audience, while negotiations with Canal+ have failed, depriving the LFP of an already well -established public broadcaster.
The production now ensured, the LFP must still secure distribution agreements with telecom operators and platforms. One thing is already activated: the platform will not be accessible via Canal+, which has retired from the project. The director general of LFP Media, Nicolas de Tavernost, has nevertheless shown himself confident as to the quality of the offer offered.
