Less than a month after being found not guilty of rape, attempted rape and assault on seven women between October 2018 and August 2021 in Chester court, Benjamin Mendy was quick to find a club since he is committed to Lorient. While waiting to relaunch a career that has been on hold for two years, the French left-back still has to settle his financial worries in England.
Indeed, The Guardian informs that the department responsible for collecting taxes in Great Britain has ordered a bankruptcy against the 29-year-old player in the amount of 800,000 pounds (more than 920,000 euros). To deal with this tax debt, the 2018 world champion would have entered into negotiations with his ex-club, Manchester City, in order to obtain his unpaid wages since September 2021, the amount of which is estimated at around €11.5 million, as indicated by his accountant present at the hearing. The British tabloid also adds that Benjamin Mendy will put his house located in Cheshire and valued at €5.7 million up for sale to settle his debts with the British tax authorities.
