Arrived in the summer of 2023 from Naples, where he had been one of the artisans of the historic scudetto, Kim Min-Jae aroused great expectations in Bayern Munich. Solid, fast and imperial in duels, the South Korean central defender was to embody the new pillar of Bavarian defense. However, his first season in the Bundesliga was halftone. Despite a good start, its performances gradually deteriorated, especially during high intensity matches, where its concentration errors sometimes cost dear. In the Champions League as in the championship, he had a hard time regaining the impact he displayed in Italy. However, interests did not lack the call when the market is opened, with in particular a meeting with Luis Campos for PSG or the other rumors binding it to a package for Rafael Leao to AC Milan.

The strong competition in central defense, in particular with Hiroki Ito, Dayot Upamecano and later Eric Dier, did not facilitate its sustainable integration in the eleven holder. Kim has often been relegated to the bench during crucial meetings in the second half of the season, a clear signal of a lack of confidence on the part of the technical staff. If he has shown undeniable qualities in recovery and marking, his adaptation to the style of play of Bayern and the intensity of the Bundesliga has left something to be desired. This halftone season could explain its opening to a departure, while Al-Nassr is very insistent to bring it to Saudi Arabia, at a time when Bayern has officially welcomed Jonathan Tah.

Leaving for Riyadh?

According to our information, Al-Nassr intensifies his efforts to recruit Kim Min-Jae, the South Korean central defender currently under contract with Bayern Munich until 2028. The Saudi club has insisted with aggressiveness in recent days in order to convince the player and his entourage. Advanced discussions would be underway, and Al-Nassr's desire to bring the 28-year-old defensive rock is no doubt. After having already attracted several European football stars, the Riyadh club seems determined to strengthen its defensive line by focusing on the services of the former Naples player.

For his part, Kim Min-Jae would be open to a departure for Saudi Arabia. The player would see this new challenge, both sporting and financially. Arrived in Bayern in the summer of 2023 after an impressive season in Serie A, he did not fully convince in the Bundesliga despite a substantial playing time. A transfer to Al-Nassr could therefore represent an opportunity to recover in an environment where more and more renowned players find a second breath. It remains to be seen if the negotiations will lead to a final agreement in the coming days.
