Asked by World Eleven, Brice Samba, recently extended by the Sang et Or, returned to the good momentum of RC Lens, second last season. Qualified for the next Champions League, the club trained by Franck Haise will now try to take a step on the European scene. For his part, the Lensois doorman seems to be counting on this new experience to consolidate his place in the tricolor jersey. “Of course I think of Euro 2024. When I was called up in March, my first goal was to be called up in June. It’s done. I am very happy. Now we have to be even stronger in the months to come. You know, when you win the title of best goalkeeper, it’s good because it was a successful year collectively and individually. Now we have to put the lid back on because I’m going to be even more expected”.

And to add:“The Euro is a goal for me! I would like, at least, to participate in a big tournament with France. It’s true that I refused the Congolese selection, the first time in 2013 or 2014. I was very young. In my head, it has always been France, honestly. And the more it progressed, the more I was told: “Are you sure it’s still France? “. Even when I signed in the Championship, people no longer believed it. Only my family, my relatives and I continued to believe in it. I’m proud to be in this group, I got there when few people thought I could. With Mike (Maignan) and Alphonse (Areola), we have known each other since training. We faced each other many times during the PSG – Le Havre. We are a bunch of friends. We have a great relationship with Franck Raviot, the goalkeeping coach. We all work in harmony together. With coach Didier Deschamps, everything is going well too.. The message got through!
