Real Madrid will experience a turning point in its project this summer. After a disappointing season with an elimination in quarters of the Champions League, a defeat in the King's Cup final and a Liga title which seems to escape him, the Madrid club will have to react this summer. And this obviously involves an ambitious summer transfer window when the workforce has clearly shown its limits. The injuries illustrated the absence of a credible alternative in central defense and for the side. In the midfield, the absence of a real creative profile to replace Kroos and Modric hurt.

So for several weeks, rumors have multiplied on the side of the Spanish press. If the club should logically complete the free arrival of the right side Trent Alexander-Arnold, several tracks have been explored in defense since. The young central defender of Bournemouth Dean Huijsen seemed to be the priority for this summer. But Real Madrid is faced with a major problem: its inability to align financially with this kind of player. In fact, Casa Blanca has a small envelope, to the point that the Spanish press wonders if the club is in good economic health.

Real Madrid is counting on Manchester United

Several tracks have been abandoned for lack of means. And this Friday, AS reveals that Real Madrid wants to try a eccentric montage for a recruit. With a very often injured Ferland Mendy and a Fran Garcia who cannot convince management, the Merengues have decided to recruit a new left side. The priority for this position is none other than Álvaro Carreras, a feeling of Benfica. The Spanish left side has been brilliant this season (4 goals and 5 assists in 47 matches) and should animate the Lisbon summer. But his clause is set at 60 million euros in his contract. An amount impossible to pay for Real Madrid.

But the Madrid management has an astonishing plan to say the least. Passed by Real Madrid (between 2017 and 2020), the 23 -year -old had left the Merengues for Manchester United at the time. The English club, when selling it in Benfica, had set a buyout clause at 18 million. AS explains that Real Madrid would like to ask the Mancunians to activate the buyout clause to resell it in stride. At the club, we think that a offer of 35 million would allow Manchester United to navigate in a win-win deal. But not sure that Manchester United agree to do in charity to strengthen an opponent, even if the two clubs have good relationships.
