Bad news for Benjamin Pavard and blow for Inter. The French defender gave himself a sprained ankle on Sunday afternoon, during the defeat of the Nerazzurri against Roma in their lair of Giuseppe-Meazza (0-1). A home pain at home which is catastrophic for the reigning Italian champion, since the Napoli, then winner of the Torino (2-0), took three points ahead of the ranking four days from the end.
Based outside the field by Mehmet Zeki Ƨelik, another former Lille (Champion of France 2021), the tricolor international twisted the ankle in the 10th minute of play and, after a few minutes of hesitation, gave way to Yann Aurel Bisseck (14th).
Unfortunately will miss the semi-final go from the Inter-Champions League against Barça on Wednesday evening in Montjuïc. The painful injury did not seem very serious, but the 2018 world champion must obviously rest for a few days, as announced by journalist Matteo Barzaghi of the TV Sky Sport channel.
Pavard and Thuram holder on the return?
Simone Inzaghi will compose with Bisseck or Matteo Darmian as a defender right to the side of Alessandro Bastoni and Francesco Acerbi. Darmian could however occupy the right corridor of 3-5-2 at the expense of Denzel Dumfries in order to solidify the Milanese block against Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Company, just winners of the King's Cup against Real Madrid on Saturday evening (3-2, AP).
In the offensive sector, Marcus Thuram could be operational. Ten days after a muscle injury, the French striker trained individually and should appear in the group that will fly to Catalonia. Pavard and Thuram are likely to find the starting eleven during the return round in Lombardy, next week (Tuesday). Lautaro Martinez was successively accompanied by Joaquin Correa, Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic in the last three games for as many defeats.
