The story between Christopher Nkunku (27) and Chelsea looks like a missed meeting. Arrived at the club for € 60 million from the RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, the French striker was the victim of too many injuries in his first season to succeed in becoming a must. His knee, his hip and then an ischio spent an almost white year with a total of 48 missed games. The competition took advantage of it for the relegated far in the hierarchy.

Cole Palmer has become the leader of the attack, with Nicolas Jackson or Noni Madueke to help him. Not helped by the prevailing instability on the Blues sidelines, the French had to be satisfied with large crumbs. Since the arrival of Enzo Maresca, he still played 42 games in all competitions for 14 goals scored and 5 assists, but most of the time, he has evolved as a holder in least importance matches.

He wants more playing time

Replacing in the Premier League (only 8 tenure since the start of the season), the former Parisian contented himself with the Europa Conference League (5 goals, 3 assists) to perform against less prestigious opponents. This at least allowed him to find the French team and to score his very first goal. Inevitably, Nkunku aspires to more playing time, in a team that wants to trust him and make him play in his post.

After RMC Sporthis time in Chelsea is counted. This winter already, there was talk of a departure at Bayern Munich or Manchester United. He finally stayed but we will not take him back. The German club could come back to the charge this summer, while Arsenal is also cited. The attacker has above all a wish: to evolve in a team that competes for the Champions League. An ambition that the blues are not able to insure him since they are for the time being 6th in the Premier League.
