Paris Saint-Germain is no longer invincible in Ligue 1. Friday evening at the Parc des Princes, the French champions fell for the first time of the season against the OGC Nice (1-3). Despite an outrageous domination, the Parisians thus put an end to a series of 30 matches without defeat in L1, and will therefore not break the invincibility record of FC Nantes (32 matches).
A first defeat on the national scene which intervenes four days to go and challenge Arsenal to the Emirates Stadium, in the semi-finals go to the Champions League. But not enough to worry Luis Enrique before this big European evening which awaits the Red and Blue.
“” At this moment, the players are clearly affected, admitted the Spanish coach at the post-match press conference.
I think we deserve to win this match. I have no doubt that we deserve to win the match. But it is obvious that if an opponent is 100 % effective and you are not at your usual level of efficiency, the game changes and becomes more complicated. It is the simplicity of football. Besides the fact that their goalkeeper was exceptional, in this sense, there is not much to say. I repeat, congratulations to the opposing team. Football does not count the opportunities to score, it has the goals scored. »»
Luis Enrique: “I am not at all worried”
“What I saw (against Nice), I sign for Tuesday in London, assured Luis Enrique. And for the return match! What I saw on the field, a team that gets 30 opportunities for a goal, I sign immediately. I do not sign the result, of course. But I am not at all worried. When you have a team that does not speculate, who plays to attack, who presses high, who does not stop running, if she is not precise on her goal, if her goalkeeper makes incredible stops, that is part of football, I accept it. »»
And to conclude: ” I think we will all go home happy and calm. Tomorrow will be a day of training. We are preparing for the semi-finals of the Champions League. We are by far the best team in France. We have proven it throughout the year. And now that one who wants to leave the boat does it. We remain faithful to our vision, to be courageous, and to think of winning the semi-finals of the Champions League. »»
As a reminder, Parisians will move on the Arsenal field next Tuesday for the semi-final. The return round will take place on Wednesday May 7 at the Parc des Princes.
