The Campos affair: what PSG does not say

The contrast is striking. Last Saturday, Luis Campos smiled, acclaimed in the park, kissed Luis Enrique, and even posed with the ultras of PSG. On the images, nothing reveals the slightest discomfort. However, behind the scenes, the Portuguese sports advisor is in an uncertain situation. His contract arrives at the end of the season and at present, nothing is yet acted for an extension. The vagueness reigns, despite a rather favorable sporting context.

If PSG has indeed formulated a proposal for extension, negotiations skates. Some sources evoke high requirements of Portuguese, others speak of more structural differences. For Campos, this is not a simple remuneration problem. But the absence of consensus on the exact contours of his role questions. The deadline is approaching, and prolonged silence could end up tiring a man, however 100 % engaged in the Parisian project.

Campos, a Parisian future that moves away

The rumor swells from a potential departure. The absence of campos in Saint-Étienne in March nourished the speculation machine, although it was on a scouting mission. In a club where each gesture is scrutinized, the slightest displacement or silence takes on an unexpected magnitude. The sports advisor, who made Paris his center of gravity, could end up turning the page if the situation is not decanting quickly.

PSG: Will Campos discomfort explode?

In this zone of turbulence, Luis Enrique clearly took a position. “I would like Luis Campos to continue at the club”he said. Their agreement is fluid, built on two effective mercatos. Kvaratskhelia, GouĂ©, Pacho or Joao Neves, so many recruits that have relaunched the Parisian collective and convinced the technical staff. Public support that weighs, but which is not enough to decide the file.

Nasser Al-KhelaĂŻfi himself expressed his wish to keep Campos. However, no signature has occurred. Despite globally positive results in terms of recruitment, the future of the Portuguese seems suspended from internal arbitrations still to come. Currently, nothing guarantees that Luis Campos will always be Parisian next season.
