Paris Saint-Germain was crowned champion of France for the thirteenth time in its history this Saturday, consolidating its dominant position in hexagonal football. This new title raises questions about the place of the Parisian club among the major European stables and highlights the remarkable performance of some of its emblematic players.

Unprecedented national domination

With thirteen Ligue 1 titles, PSG now exceeds AS Saint-Étienne (10 titles) and Olympique de Marseille (9 titles), claiming its supremacy on French football. Since the arrival of Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) in 2011, the club has won eleven national championships, testifying to exceptional regularity and domination.

Comparison with European giants

If we compare the list of PSG to that of major European clubs, we note that institutions like Real Madrid in Spain, Manchester United in England or Bayern Munich in Germany have a higher number of titles. Nevertheless, the rapid progress of PSG for a decade has placed it among the most efficient clubs in Europe over this period.

Marquinhos already has champion titles to his credit with PSG.

Marquinhos enters a little more in history

Another symbol of this QSI era: Marquinhos, captain and pillar of the Parisian wardrobe, which this season wins its tenth title of champion of France this season, an absolute record in the history of the championship. Rarely a player will not have embodied longevity and consistency at the highest level in the same club as much. In Europe, few active players can compete with such a national record.

Historical domination under QSI

Since the arrival of Qatar Sports Investments in 2011, PSG has changed its dimension. The coronation of this 2024-2025 season is the eleventh title of champion of France won under the Qatari era, confirming the almost absolute control of the club on Ligue 1 for more than a decade. Only the 2016-2017 and 2020-2021 seasons escaped Paris, for the benefit of Monaco and LOSC.

More than a simple coronation, this title 2025 is a reminder: PSG, even in periods of doubt or transition, remains a machine to win. And the quest for grandeur, started in 2011, continues to write with great strides.

Future prospects for PSG

With such a dynamic, PSG seems to be off to continue to enrich its record in the years to come. The main objective remains to establish itself on the European scene by winning the Champions League, a trophy which still lacks the call despite massive investments and the ambitions displayed by the Parisian club.
