Under the threat of the DNCG, OL seems to have taken measures to reduce a wage bill which remains high.

The measures taken by the DNCG towards Olympique Lyonnais seem to bear fruit. The fifth Ligue 1 payroll has made economic efforts to try to lift the sanction for demotion in Ligue 2 taken for a precaution and the prohibition to recruit.

The economic objective of this season at OL is clear: to lighten the expenses of the club in order to be able to validate its accounts. Olympique Lyonnais has also taken measures from this winter to honor this commitment. Several unwanted and expensive players have folded luggage this winter like Said Benrahma, Maxence Caqueret or Anthony Lopes.

Even if these departures had a considerable impact on the wage bill of Olympique Lyonnais, OL remains one of the clubs that best pay their players. Indeed, among the 30 best paid players in the French championship there are no less than four Lyonnais.

The price of experience

At the head of the ranking in Lyon there are three experienced players. The first place is occupied by Captain Alexandre Lacazette with a gross monthly salary of 500,000 euros followed closely by Corentin Tolisso (450,000 euros) and finally Nemanja Matic (400,000 euros) to complete the podium.

Promise of the future, Rayan Cherki is the fourth best paid player in the Lyon wardrobe with a monthly goal salary of 330,000 euros. Note that OL could review its payroll down this summer if the big wages like Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso came to leave the Rhone club.
