OM represents the second payroll in Ligue 1 as indicated “the team”. The club is doing despite a drop in income.

The team Unveiled this Wednesday the ranking of the best paid players in the French Ligue 1 championship. Olympique de Marseille is the second club to have the largest payroll in Ligue 1. Marseillais receive an average salary of 250,000 euros, far from the 647,000 euros collected on average by Parisian players.

But just like Paris Saint-Germain, the club has saved this season this season, notably thanks to the departures of many players, such as Pierre Emerick Aubameyang or Jordan Veretout, this summer thus allowing the Club of the Marseille to fill its lack of income linked to its non-participation in the Champions League.

The first two OM players to appear in the classification of the best paid players in Ligue 1 are the Danish Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg, eg French international Adrien Rabiot with a monthly gross salary estimated at 500,000 euros. In third place we find Ismaël Bennacer. The Algerian who arrived from AC Milan this winter receives a salary of 450,000 euros gross monthly, just like the English Mason Greenwood. We note that it is the new arrivals that are therefore the best paid.

OM and its wage management policy

Like most French clubs, Olympique de Marseille must have tightened its belt this season. The non-participation of the club in the Champions League forced Marseille leaders found other means to enter the necessary funds and still keep the possibility of offering good salaries to their players. To do this, Frank McCourt, for example, preferred to go through loans, as is the case for Höjbjerg and Bennacer.

Winning bet, because the club has managed to remain attractive in particular thanks to a well -defined sports project and its popularity in France, thus allowing the Marseille management to attract big names in football such as Adrien Rabiot which nevertheless seemed inaccessible for club like OM.
