Double reigning world champions, the United States came close to elimination on Tuesday, unlike the Canadians last week. The Americans are not jubilant, however, by only finishing second in the group.

The planet of women’s football shook on Tuesday in New Zealand during the Portugal-United States match counting for the third day of the group stage played in Auckland.

Great favorites of the World Cup, by their status as double title holders, the Americans remain alive thanks to a post, the one found by Capeta, in additional time (90th + 1).

American goalkeeper Naeher was beaten on the shot fired by the Sporting Portugal striker, which came on less than two minutes earlier.

Thanks to this happy 0-0, the United States qualified for the round of 16, with five points (one better than the Portuguese).

But they finish in second place in group E behind the Netherlands, on a ride against Vietnam at the same time (7-0).

The next opponent of Morgan and other Rapinoe, should be Sweden, well on their way to retaining the lead in group G.

Last weekend, the World Cup saw the elimination of the Canadian women, Olympic champions in title, after a correction suffered against Australia (4-0).
