It's official. Ronaldo withdraws his candidacy for the presidency of the CBF. At 48, the 2002 Auriverde World Champion had formalized his desire to run for the presidential elections of the Brazilian Federation (CBF) last December. Unfortunately for him, the boss of Valladolid discovered that the outgoing president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, has a much more powerful network of influence than him. His chances would therefore be minimal.

“After having publicly declared my desire to present myself to the presidency of the CBF in the next elections, I officially withdraw my intention here. If the majority of decision -makers think that Brazilian football is in good hands, which I think does not matter. My first measures would be to give the clubs a voice and a space, and to listen to the federations in favor of improving competitions and the development of sport in their states ”he announces on his Instagram account.

“There is no way to introduce yourself”

“The federations refused to receive me at home, under the pretext of satisfaction from the current administration and support for re -election. I could not present my project, expose my ideas and listen to them as I would have liked. There was no opening to the dialogue. The status gives the federations the greatest number of votes, so it is clear that there is no way to present themselves. Most heads of state support the outgoing president, it is their right and I respect him, whatever my convictions ”he adds.
