Since his departure from FC Barcelona a little less than a year ago, Xavi Hernandez has not yet found a bench on which to continue his new career. Al-Sadd coach in Qatar, then his lifelong club, Barça, the former midfielder is in full prospecting and aims to return. This is what he explained in an interview with France Football this week.

“Yes, I want to train again next season. I want to win the Champions League, the Euro, the World Cup … I am open to anything. Why not coach another Liga team? I am looking for an exciting project. It may also be a national team. ” Obviously asked about his possible interest in a French club, the Catalan explained: “I mainly watched the French clubs which competed in the Champions League. And then Olympique de Marseille. In France, it is difficult to compete with Paris. Their project is magnificent and their team extraordinary ”.

Little chance of seeing it

OM has not planned to change coach for the moment, especially since Roberto de Zerbi is pretty well started to qualify the club in the Champions League. Regarding the other ambitious training courses in Ligue 1, Nice (with Franck Haise), Monaco (with Adi Hütter) or Lille (with Bruno Génésio), they do not seem about to change coach. Ditto for PSG, of course, which rushes towards a title of champion of France and made a strong impression in C1 against Liverpool earlier in the week.

The Spanish selection has renewed Luis de la Fuente, winner of the Euro with La Roja last year, until Euro 2028. Little chances, therefore, to see Xavi take care of the national team in the near future. There remains the liga, on the bench of a club which will necessarily be outside the Top 3.
