Ousmane Dembele has been the subject of much speculation for the past few days. Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the FC Barcelona winger, who has less than 12 months left on his contract, has been mentioned.

On June 1, Dembele’s release clause at Barcelona was reduced from €100m to €50m, and the player himself will receive half that amount if the clause is activated. However, the clause is only active until Tuesday (01/08), after which it reverts to €100m.

Therefore, PSG only have until the end of the day on Monday to activate Dembele’s €50m release clause, after which they will have to pay double to sign him.

Xavi Hernandez is confident he can retain Dembele’s services, although he admits he can’t absolutely guarantee the France international will stay.

FC Barcelona hope to agree a new contract with the winger in the coming weeks, but that will require him to reject offers from PSG if the French champions activate his release clause.
