The surprise defeat of Germany against Colombia could dampen the morale of Les Bleues in view of the knockout stages of the World Cup.

Hervé Renard rightly said so. The victory of his French team against Brazil, Saturday in Brisbane (2-1), is very probably a reference match on which the Blue will be able to rely to continue to shine in this World Cup which is being played in Australia and New Zealand.

The deserved success against the South Americans placed Wendie Renard and her teammates at the top of group F. A favorable situation in view of the round of 16 when there is only one match to be played in the 1st round, the one against the modest Panamanian players.

Finishing at the top of the groups would allow France to avoid Germany, favorite of Group H and the World Cup, if the latter logically kept control of its group. Yes, but now the situation has changed.

Colombia created the big sensation on Sunday by beating Germany, 2-1, on the second day and at the end of a thrilling scenario. After a jewel signed Caicedo (52nd), Popp had equalized on penalty in the 89th (1-1) for the players from across the Rhine.

The surprise came from a resumption of the head of Vanegas a few seconds from the end of additional time (2-1, 90th + 7). The South Americans lead their group with three points better than the Germans.

Everything will be decided on the third and last day to know the posters for the 8th finals. On this day, France would challenge Germany.
