After his decade spent in Tottenham and his reign 14 years long in the French team, Hugo Lloris joined Los Angeles FC and has just started his second season with the Californian training.

Always as polished at the microphone, Hugo Lloris was at a press conference on Friday on the eve of the first meeting of MLS du Los Angeles FC, Saturday with the reception of Minnesota United (1-0 victory). The Californian training led by its two 2018 world champions intends to enforce its status in MLS, after a 2024 season which ended in sausage water. Arrived in July, Olivier Giroud scored no goal in 14 matches in the North American championship and his new team, first of the western conference, was eliminated in the semi-finals of the conference by the Seattle Sounders.

Lloris officially started the exercise by hosting two goals last Tuesday on the field of Colorado Rapids (2-1), in the first round of the first round of the Champions Cup of the Concacaf (the equivalent of the Champions League in America North but only in direct elimination phase). The Angelinos will therefore continue next week with the reception of Colorado, to avoid premature elimination, then a second match of Major League Soccer with the arrival of New York City.

Lloris near the USA coach

Happy to start a second year in Los Angeles with more benchmarks, Lloris will also take the opportunity to find his former coach in Tottenham Mauricio Pocsettino, next month. “He will play the semi-final in Los Angeles, so I think it will be an opportunity to go see him, him and all his staff. We have an excellent relationship “launched the former 2018 world champions captain, while the Argentinian coach heads the United States national team. Team USA will indeed face Panama then Canada or Mexico during the Final Four of the League of Nations, at Sofi Stadium (70,000 seats), March 20 and 23.

Lloris knows Miguel d'Agostino, the faithful assistant of Pochettino well (who ensured the translation during the PSG press conferences), the guards coach Toni Jiménez or Sebastiano Pochettino, in his father's staff as a physical trainer. Lloris concludes on Pocsettino: “Obviously, we stay in contact, even if we are both busy, but it is a friendship that will remain for the rest of our lives”. The native of Nice arrived at the Spurs in 2012 with André Villas-Boas on the bench and Mauricio Pochettino took control of Tottenham in 2014, to take the club to the final of the Champions League in 2019 (2-0 defeat against the Liverpool).
