For several months, Nemanja Matic seems more fulfilled than ever. At 36, the Serbian middle radiated in the jersey of Olympique Lyonnais and continues to display an intact motivation. But beyond his ambitions with OL, a very special idea trotting him in his head. A dream he shares with another legend of modern football, in this case Cristiano Ronaldo.

Play with your son, a family goal

Like his former teammate in Manchester United, who aims to one day tread professional land alongside his son, Matic nourishes a similar idea. His son Filip, 14, is currently evolving with the U14s of OL. “He must still work a lot, but it would be incredible to be able to share at least training with him,” says the Serb in an interview with progress. Aware that the high -level requirement leaves no room for random, it nevertheless insists on the importance of not burning the steps:
“I don't want to put the slightest pressure on him. When I can, I accompany him in training, but it is above all so that he has fun. »»

If a joint professional in professional still seems distant, Matic does not close the door to this possibility. The longevity of players like Luka Modric or Cristiano Ronaldo proves that staying competitive at the highest level beyond 38 years is no longer an inaccessible dream.

Like Ronaldo, Matic wants to make a family dream come true.

Matic, an intact passion and high ambitions

Beyond this personal objective, Matic has lost none of his ambition. Arrived in Lyon in January 2024, he quickly took the reins of the midfielder, contributing to the spectacular rise of OL in Ligue 1. “When I got here, my dream was to hang Europe. Now my goal is to bring Lyon to the Champions League ”, he says.

In parallel, he is already preparing his post-carrier. Currently in training to obtain his UEFA A license, he is passionate about transmission and work with young people. “I try to guide them, in particular Tanner Tessmann, who has a lot of potential”he explains. A vision of football that he wishes to apply in the long term, perhaps even by one day integrating a technical staff.

But before that, Nemanja Matic still wants to mark his time as a player. And who knows, perhaps one day, like Cristiano Ronaldo, he can share a few minutes on land with his son.
