Names like Ansu Fati and Andreas Christensen have been mentioned, while Frenkie de Jong could also emerge as a candidate at the start.
Earlier in the season, by Jong seemed certain to leave Barcelona this summer. His current contract expires in 2026 and the club does not intend to keep its services with the risk of losing it for free 12 months later.
However, things have changed considerably in recent weeks. Hansi Flick made Jong a regular holder and he started to find his best form. It is therefore also planned for a new contract to be concluded before the end of the season.
However, it is not certain that De Jong renews, even if it is desperate to extend his stay in Barcelona. He would have to reduce his salary for this to happen, and if no agreement can be found before the summer, he would be put on the market.
Jong Frenkie in Liverpool?
If this happens, Liverpool should make an offer, as reports TeamTalk. It is claimed that Barcelona would accept 35 million euros for De Jong in order to avoid losing it for free in the summer of 2026, and this price is deemed acceptable by the leaders of the Premier League.
However, the same problem facing Barcelona is also the one Liverpool should face if he opted for Jong. They cannot afford to cover your current salary, therefore a significant salary reduction would be necessary for an agreement to be concluded.
Barcelona hopes that Liverpool will not have the opportunity to take a step forward for De Jong, because his plan is to have him sign a new contract before the end of the season.
