The standoff between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain has just crossed a new course. This Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the FFF Higher Commission of Appeal deemed “inadmissible” the request of the former Parisian striker, who claims 55 million euros in unpaid wages and bonuses. A decision that confirms that of the Professional Football League (LFP) in December 2024, plunging the file into a legal impasse.

Mbappé and PSG, an endless legal soap opera!

It all started in the summer of 2023. While Mbappé refuses to extend his contract, PSG puts him away from the group for a month. The two parties then agree orally: the player would give up part of his bonuses if he left the club freely in 2024. But after his departure at Real Madrid, Mbappé disputes this agreement, believing that PSG has not respected His commitments by reducing his playing time and omitting to pay his April, May and June 2024 wages.

The club says that the striker has “made clear commitments” and acts with “disloyalty”, demanding respect for “contractual good faith”.

Mbappé loses big after an unexpected verdict.

Sports justice in check

Despite two LFP injunctions in September and October 2024 ordering PSG to pay the 55 million euros, the club systematically refused, disputing the legality of decisions. In response, Mbappé seized the LFP disciplinary committee, then the FFF, but these bodies judged its “inadmissible” request, arguing that PSG had already assigned the LFP before the Paris court. For the FFF, the dispute must now be decided by the industrial tribunal or a civil jurisdiction, a procedure which could stretch over years.

PSG camps on its positions

The Parisian club says it is ready to “Expose fully the facts before a competent court », While hoping for a
“Amicable solution”. A position criticized by the entourage of Mbappé, who denounces a “Occult agreement”
Concluded under pressure in 2023. The 55 million claimed include: 36 million euros in the signing bonus (last third not paid), 19 million euros in wages of the last three months in Paris, an ethics bonus during this period.

And now ?

Real Madrid, a new Mbappé club, remains behind, leaving the player to manage this personal file. The latter could seize UEFA or the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) to accelerate the procedure. In the meantime, PSG plays the watch, knowing that a civil conviction would take years … and that Mbappé, at 26, could never recover this sum before the end of his career.
