The Premier League has suffered a hard blow after City won its trial contesting the division sponsorship rules in the past three years, which have been declared null and not avenue. A court agreed to the champions, who raised the case in 2023 when the league blocked agreements with Etihad Airways and First Abu Dhabi Bank.

In addition to the success of the City affair, all transactions between associated parties (APT) between 2021 and 2024 can now be disputed, which raises fears that other clubs of the English elite require compensation for the agreements which were blocked or whose value was reduced during this period.

City wins his duel

The 18 -page final judgment stipulates in particular: “In the first partial final sentence, it was declared that the APT rules and the modified rules of the APT were illegal in three respects.

“It is now necessary to decide whether these three aspects can be dissociated from the other Apt rules so that the latter are valid and applicable. The three aspects for which the APT rules and the modified rules of the APT were illegal cannot be dissociated, which means that the rules of the APT as a whole are zero and inapplicable. »»

City also disputes the modified rules of the APT which were voted in November, and the panel should decide on this subject in the near future. Another positive result for the Pep Guardiola team could plunge the league into chaos.
