The Catalan club are looking to release several players from their squad but they recognize that it is not an easy task.

FC Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste admits some players have “irresponsible” contracts.

Barça is done with “irresponsible contracts”

Yuste was asked about Barca’s ‘exit operation’, which seeks to ease wage pressure. He replied to Sport: “We are working on it because it is necessary for players to leave, especially those who are not important to the coach”.

“There were contracts that, for me, were really irresponsible. We have ended contracts that will never happen again at the club, ever again. And it’s not the player’s fault that leaders, presidents, etc. concluded them”he added, pointing the finger at the club’s previous decision-makers.

With the return of Joan Laporta in charge of the club, Barça took a new turn, with a healthier policy. Yuste confirms this, assuring that mistakes made in the past will not be repeated. “Our first priority is that the club belongs to its members and that is why we have to take care of the economy of the club. You can see this with the contracts we enter into”.

“We are working on it. We presented a sustainability plan to the league, we are working on it and I think soon we will be able to announce that there will be no problem for the maximum number of players to register. There will be good news very soon”concluded the interested party.
