For several days, FC Barcelona has been jubilant. While the matter seemed to be off to a bad start, the Catalan club finally obtained the green light from the Spanish government to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. An announcement which pissed off several La Liga clubs. The latter did not fail to publicly display their dissatisfaction by publishing press releases to denounce this government boost. On the other hand, Real Madrid remained very silent. And while some media have denounced this guilty silence, Joan Laporta wanted to thank all those who have not spoken out against his club.
“I will not reveal private conversations. What I can tell you is that I am grateful to the clubs who have not taken a position against this measure. They understood that this was not the right solution. Off the pitch, as a club and within the employers’ association, we defend the interests of all and among all. The clubs that took a position against… I’m not happy about it and I don’t agree. But there are many clubs which have not taken a position. Their legal services will know what we are talking about, that Barça’s defense is in accordance with the law and that this procedure has every chance of succeeding. I don’t want to get into the technical aspects. I don’t want to do any harm. We must respect the position of all parties and know that our request will be accepted. I will not reveal that I spoke about this issue with Florentino (Pérez)“, he confided at a press conference.
