Authors of an exceptional season, the Nottingham Forrest players received unexpected praise this Monday January 13. And the Dutch manager was complimentary towards his opponent. “I have always said that we can only judge the ranking from mid-season. We are halfway through the season, and Nottingham Forrest is at the same level as our pursuers. It is therefore a team in battle with us and with the others”said Arne Slot.
A ranking which is not due to chance according to the Reds coach, who explains that “if you look at the way they play and their results, we see that their position is deserved. It will be a very difficult challenge for us to get a result.” As a reminder, Nottingham Forrest are the only team to have inflicted a defeat on Liverpool this season, a 1-0 loss at Anfield in September. Slot recalled this meeting by justifying it, showing that “It was hard for us to lose that day. Now, looking back and seeing where they are in the league, it’s not as surprising a result as it was then.”
