The Clasico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, Sunday in Saudi Arabia, did not disappoint. At least, the first period of the game was great! From the outset, Kylian Mbappé went on the counter-attack to outrun Alejandro Balde and open the scoring ahead of Wojciech Szczesny (5th). Other French internationals then turned the match around: Aurélien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Jules Koundé!
The Blaugranas equalized thanks to their prodigy Lamine Yamal. On a deflection from Robert Lewandowski, the 17-year-old left-hander was able to hit full axis and easily got around Tchouameni to place the ball out of reach of Thibaut Courtois (22nd). Once again aligned within the central hinge with Antonio Rüdiger, the former Bordeaux and Monegasque player is completely overwhelmed by the vista of Lamine Yamal, remarkable for his lucidity.
Tchouameni taken from behind by Koundé
This excellent Real-Barça then changed as half-time approached. And the Blues from both camps have therefore been talked about. On a cross from Jules Koundé deflected by Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga stupidly hit Gavi in the Madrid area. “Cama” had been untenable since the start of the game. The video referee signaled a penalty and Robert Lewandowski gave his team the advantage (36th).
Three minutes later, Jules Koundé made a perfect opening from the right, which passed above Tchouameni and which allowed Raphinha to score with a remarkable header (39th). At the end of added time in this first period, Balde, after an express counterattack, scored Barcelona’s 4th goal (45th+10)! Quickly trailing 1-0, the Blaugranas led by Hansi Flick therefore returned to the locker room with a 4-1 advantage!
