FC Barcelona could soon part with one of its most valuable defenders. According to several sources, Ronald Araujo, pillar of the Catalan defense, is in advanced discussions with Juventus. After a first part of the season marked by a muscle injury which kept him away from the field, the Uruguayan, aged 25, would have received several offers.
According to La Repubblica, an agreement has been reached between the two clubs for a loan with an option to purchase. However, journalist Fabrizio Romano says negotiations remain ongoing, with Juventus pushing for a quick conclusion. The player’s agent, Andrés Espinosa, confirmed the existence of offers, while emphasizing that Araujo gives priority to Barça, but did not rule out a departure.
Reasons for leaving
Barça, facing persistent financial problems, seems open to a transfer to reduce its wage bill. Under contract until 2026, Araujo has not yet extended with the Blaugranas, which weakens his situation. Although his agent says Araujo remains committed to the club, his preference for Juventus leaves some doubt. This potential transfer could offer Barça a financial breath of fresh air.
