With 18 goals and 11 assists this season in all competitions, Omar Marmoush has established himself as the second most effective player in Europe (among the 5 major championships), just behind the untouchable Mohamed Salah. All while playing at Eintracht Frankfurt, far from being a European powerhouse like Liverpool or FC Barcelona (where those who complete the top decisive players play, with Lewandowski and Raphinha) or Bayern Munich (with Harry Kane).
Obviously, this arouses more than curiosity from teams looking for a new offensive thrill. This is the case for Manchester City. As we revealed to you exclusively, the Mancunian club contacted the player and his representatives to make an offer and present the sporting project to him. Marmoush was therefore able to listen to what was expected of him from the Citizens side. At 25, and after such a first part of the season, he is ready to seize the opportunity offered, but feels fulfilled at Frankfurt, where he forms a solid duo with Hugo Ekitike.
Frankfurt has no need to sell
Eintracht Frankfurt is 3rd in the Bundesliga, behind Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, and can therefore have ambitions for the end of the season. Additionally, the German club is well managed and does not need cash this winter. PSG was able to see this in the Randal Kolo Muani case a year and a half ago, when Eintracht does not wish to sell, it does not give a gift, and it was only a check for €90 million that had been paid. Here we are at the heart of the season, Marmoush’s first at the club, he who was recruited freely from Wolfsburg!
This Thursday, Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller was evasive about the rumors surrounding the Egyptian: “Omar Marmoush is a player of enormous importance to us. There is no contact between the clubs and until that is the case, we don’t need to talk too much about it.» Sports director Marcus Krösche gave him the instructions to follow in this hot new issue, which could still pay off very big. “Our fundamental intention is to keep the team together and achieve our sporting goals. Of course, there are extreme situations. This needs to be re-evaluated. However, something extraordinary must happen. (…) We want to approach the second part of the season with this team”. There is no point in Frankfurt selling their best player in the middle of the season unless there is a crazy offer. According to the English press, Man City plans to spend between €50 and €60 million but that seems too fair given the clear positioning of German leaders.
