After fourteen years as coach of the France team, Didier Deschamps will bow out after the 2026 World Cup. It is now a certainty since
the main interested party has already announced it.

Asked to react to this important decision for French football, Franck Haise was keen to congratulate his colleague. “We must have a lot of recognition for the work – which is not finished – of Didier Deschamps and his staff. We are always critical of many things in France. We are very critical of sport, coaches and selectors but we also have to face reality. If we last in this profession, it’s because we have results, we still have to take our hat off to him,” declared the OGC Nice coach this Thursday at a press conference.

Zidane is (almost) unanimous

As for the name of the next French coach, the 53-year-old technician agrees with the ultra-dominant opinion. “For the future, there is real evidence and I share it. That Zinédine Zidane will be the future coach of France in 2026, I think that makes a lot of sense”estimates the former coach of the Racing Club de Lens.

To succeed Didier Deschamps, the 1998 Ballon d’Or seems to be unanimous. Well almost. Alone
Raymond Domenech seems skeptical about this idea and would rather give his favors to Thierry Henry.
