The administrative drama surrounding Dani Olmo is taking a favorable turn for FC Barcelona. This Wednesday, the Spanish Higher Sports Council (CSD) rendered a crucial decision: Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, until then prevented from playing due to a dispute over their registration, are now authorized to set foot on the pitch.
A provisional but essential decision
In an official press release published on January 8, the CSD granted an urgent interim measure in response to the request of FC Barcelona and the two players. This decision suspends the agreement of the Monitoring Commission of the RFEF-LaLiga Convention which canceled the sports licenses of the two recruits. Therefore, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor will be available this evening to participate in the Spanish Super Cup, where Barça faces Bilbao in the semi-final.
The CSD justified its decision by invoking article 27 of the Sports Law, which guarantees professional athletes “a sporting career consistent with their potential”. According to the Council, refusing this measure would have caused irreparable economic and professional harm for the players and the club, while undermining the integrity of the competitions.
A glimmer of hope for Barça
For FC Barcelona, this legal victory is a relief in a complicated context. Recruited for 55 million euros in the summer of 2024, Dani Olmo could not be registered in La Liga due to budgetary restrictions imposed by the Spanish league. This situation, which had plunged the player and the club into uncertainty, seemed to be a new blow for Barça, already under financial pressure.
With this decision, Barça will not only be able to count on Olmo and Pau Victor for the Super Cup, but also hope for a favorable outcome for their definitive registration in La Liga.
Dani Olmo can play in the Super Cup
This authorization comes at the right time for Barça, engaged in a prestigious competition in Saudi Arabia. Dani Olmo, whose situation had sparked numerous debates in recent weeks, will now be able to bring his creativity and experience to help his team win a new trophy.
Although this decision is provisional, it offers a breath of fresh air to FC Barcelona, which can now fully concentrate on its sporting objectives while continuing its administrative standoff with LaLiga.
