The days of Mario Balotelli making headlines for his dangerous behavior are long gone, but the Italian striker couldn’t help but recall old memories with Manchester City, which involved plenty of fireworks artifice. Balotelli posted a photo on Instagram lying on a box of fireworks and tagged his former club with the caption “ Are you ready?“.

In October 2011, Balotelli had to evacuate his home after detonating a barrel of fireworks in his Manchester bathroom, causing the place to catch fire, and the incident was inevitably picked up by the mainstream media. It was on the eve of a huge Manchester derby, which City won 6-1 and in which Balotelli scored twice. It was also the birth of its iconic celebration “Pwhy always me?“, in reference to the attention he constantly attracted during his stay in England.

Why always him?

Balotelli now plays football for Genoa in Serie A. He has made six league appearances so far this season but is yet to score a goal. The 34-year-old has resigned himself to playing a secondary role, making short appearances in matches as he reaches the twilight of his career.

Balotelli is only linked to Genoa until the summer, so any bad behavior would surely see his stay cut short.
