Nothing seems to be smiling at Barça lately. While the sporting results struggle to convince, the Catalan club once again finds itself faced with administrative complications. A recent decision by the judicial authorities aggravates the already fragile situation of the Blaugrana.
The problem concerns the recording of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second part of the season. Barcelona’s commercial court has rejected Barca’s appeal to extend their provisional registration granted at the start of the season. Without this registration, both players will not be able to play from January 1.
Finances under pressure
La Liga had authorized the club to register Olmo and Victor for the first months of the season, provided that financial solutions were found by January. However, Barca’s efforts, such as signing a new sponsorship deal with Nike, proved insufficient. Plans to sell VIP boxes at the Camp Nou also failed to generate the necessary funds.
A hard blow which weakens Barça.
Dani Olmo, who arrived this summer for 60 million euros, was nevertheless an important piece with six goals in 15 games. Pau Victor, although less used, remains a hope for the team. In the meantime, Barcelona has appealed to another legal body, but the verdict expected on December 30 leaves the club little time to act.
A worrying spiral for Barça
Barça’s economic situation, aggravated by the delay in work at the Camp Nou and losses estimated at 90 million euros this season, further complicates things. If the situation does not change quickly, the club’s sporting ambitions could be seriously compromised.
