Times are tough for Theo Hernandez at AC Milan. For two matches, the French left-back has been relegated to the bench by Rossoneri coach Paulo Fonseca. During the last match against Hellas Verona (1-0 victory) in Serie A, he only came on after half an hour of play, playing around sixty minutes.
The Portuguese technician preferred the young Spaniard Alex Jimenez, due, according to La Gazzetta dello Sportof his performances deemed insufficient in recent weeks. The former LOSC coach also pointed out a lack of involvement and an attitude that he considers problematic on the part of the French defender.
Hernandez called to order
The relationship between the two men was not without tensions. Fonseca would even have publicly reframed the native of Marseille in front of the entire Milan locker room. Despite this, the transalpine daily affirms that Hernandez remains in the plans of the 51-year-old coach.
Note that Theo Hernandez is currently in discussions with Milan management for a salary increase. His contract, signed in 2019 and extended to 2022, still runs until June 2026.
