Free of any contract, Ilkay Gündogan has offered himself a new challenge by signing with FC Barcelona this summer. Currently in the United States to participate in the Soccer Champions Tour as part of the summer preparation, the German midfielder is about to take his first steps with the Blaugranas against Arsenal at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Thursday. While waiting to prove his worth, the 32-year-old gave his impressions of his debut with the Catalan club and admits to having been pleasantly surprised by Pedri’s technical qualities during training sessions. Admiring, the former Manchester City player said he was “eager to play” alongside the Barça nugget at the microphone of Mundo Deportivo.
“I already knew most of my team-mates, having seen them play and also having played against them, whether at club or national team. There was one player I was looking forward to playing with and that’s Pedri. I think he’s a great talent, he’s so young and at the same time so good, he has so much potential.”said the Germany international.
