The Zidane siblings are in great shape at the moment! While Luca Zidane, the 26-year-old goalkeeper, earned his number one spot at Granada, in Liga 2, after being the hero of his team in the Copa del Rey, his little brother Théo, 22-year-old midfielder , never stop shaking the nets! The third son of Zinédine Zidane, who plays for Cordoba FC, also in the Spanish D2, scored his 4th goal of the season, all scored in a month and a half. Not without creating a big controversy.

Théo allowed the Cordoba team to win on Real Oviedo (2-3) on Saturday afternoon. The one who played in the Real Madrid B team for the last three seasons scored the third goal for the Andalusian visitors in added time of the first period (45th + 5). On a cross from Nikolay Obolskiy (his Russian teammate), Théo Zidane shook the net with a header but the ball also hit his arm.

Théo Zidane says there is a hand, the VAR validates the goal

The sequence is then quite incredible: the referees on the field awarded Théo Zidane’s goal, who however did not celebrate. The central referee thus waited for confirmation of Cordoba’s goal from his video assistant. During this moment of hesitation, Théo, filmed by the TV cameras, then said to two of his teammates: “it’s hand”. But the VAR referee validated Théo’s goal! The center, Mr. Mallo, thus sent the two teams to the locker room with a score of 3-1 in favor of the Córdoba.

Oviedo, who came back to 3-2 in the second half without then managing to equalize, may feel aggrieved after this refereeing decision. The Asturias club is one of the top teams in Liga 2 and could have joined Almeria in first place if they win. It’s a failure. Real Oviedo is 4th before the rest of the 21st day. Théo Zidane’s Cordoba FC is 14th in the standings with now seven points more than the first relegation place (19th).
