FC Barcelona is already preparing for the future after Robert Lewandowski. Looking for a new center forward to take over from the Polish striker, Marcus Thuram is now at the top of the list of Catalan leaders, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Thuram shines with Inter Milan
At 27, Marcus Thuram is having an exceptional season with Inter Milan: 12 goals and 6 assists in 20 matches in all competitions. His regularity and versatility appeal to the Blaugrana, who see in him an ideal profile to energize the Catalan attack when Lewandowski, soon to be 37, gives up his place.
However, competition promises to be fierce for the French international. Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and PSG are also closely monitoring the performances of Lilian Thuram’s son. Under contract with Inter until 2028, Thuram could be the subject of a fierce battle in the next summer transfer window.
A future far from Italy?
Barça’s delicate financial situation could complicate such an operation, but Joan Laporta and the Catalan management remain determined to strengthen their attack for the coming seasons. Thuram, thanks to his speed, his power and his efficiency in front of goal, represents a credible option to replace a Lewandowski who is still prolific (23 goals this season), but whose career is approaching its twilight.
