At the dawn of his 37th birthday, Karim Benzema (10 goals, 3 assists, 11 matches) seems to be entering the final act of his exceptional career in Saudi Arabia. Still as formidable in front of goals, the French striker, who has defended the colors of Al-Ittihad since 2023, may however not honor his entire contract, which is supposed to end in June 2026.
According to information released Monday by Relevothe former Real Madrid captain is reportedly seriously considering ending his professional career at the end of the 2024-2025 season. Physical fatigue, mental wear and tear, KB9 would begin to feel the weight of the demands of daily football, accentuated by the late training sessions imposed by the Saudi club.
Return to Madrid for Benzema?
However, if Benzema were to leave the lawns of the Gulf, his future would already be mapped out. The 2022 Ballon d’Or would have an agreement with Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid, to take on the role of ambassador of the Merengues.
This new chapter would allow the former Lyonnais to return to the sun of Madrid, while continuing to represent the club in the Spanish capital, particularly on Saudi soil. A prospect which, in all likelihood, should not encounter opposition from Al-Ittihad, based in Jeddah.
