The story earned him some criticism. In July, Walid Acherchour criticized the prices announced for subscription to DAZN, the new main broadcaster of Ligue 1. A few weeks later, the 31-year-old journalist, who also works on RMC and Winamax TV, was recruited by the British platform. And he then quickly deleted his tweets on the subject.
Interviewed this Saturday in L’Equipe, Walid Acherchour assumes perfectly: “Before being approached by DAZN, I was in my role on RMC: €40 per month is expensive (the subscription is now €19.99). Afterwards, this platform gives the opportunity to a 31-year-old guy, who has not been a player, to give his opinion on the big Ligue 1 poster, from the stadium, while remaining 100% himself. I said to myself: “Walid, go for it! Just for the trophy and the adventure! » Then, out of respect for my employer, I deleted my tweets. But I’m right in my boots on both time factors. I caught the wave on the networks, that’s the game. But I know very well that those who criticized me would have made exactly the same choice. »
On DAZN, total freedom of tone
Walid Acherchour also highlights the freedom of tone granted by DAZN. “When I was recruited, they told me: ‘If we choose you, it’s to have your total freedom. Don’t change absolutely anything!’ Since the first match, I have never had a single comment. I’m totally blossoming.”
